Pet Photography at Coffee-Stained Media

Our pet photography sessions are built around patience, comfort, and genuine care for animals of all kinds.

We take extra time to help pets — including puppies, shy animals, and even growly or anxious dogs — feel comfortable with us and their surroundings before we ever rush a photo. Coffee-Stained studio is specially designed to keep light stands, tripods, and cords off of the floor, giving your pet maximum rumpus room, if desired (this protects your pet, and our equipment). Sessions are unhurried, gentle, and guided by the animal’s energy and needs. We thoroughly clean floors and props between shoots to reduce unfamiliar scents, and we use calming dog and cat pheromone diffusers to help create a relaxed, reassuring environment. The result is imagery that captures personality, expression, and that hard-to-define inner spark that makes each pet who they are.

We truly love working with animals, and it shows in both the experience and the final images.

Our Sessions

From birthday parties to holiday shoots to lazy afternoon vibes, our sessions pack personality and flexibility, designed to feel relaxed, collaborative, and true to the people (and pets) involved.

K9 Lookbook

It can help to have a couple of shot styles in mind before your session. Browse our K9 lookbook, choose two or three favorites, and we’ll use them as inspiration to create something special for your pup.

Results frequently depend on the dog in question’s cooperative nature, and are thus not guaranteed.

Prefer your photos taken out in the wild?

Sometimes a studio setting just isn’t right to show off your pup’s personality.

We’ve put together a short list of our favorite parks to help you decide. Have another spot in mind? Choose any location within our service area — we’re happy to meet you there. (Additional travel fees may apply.)

Not sure which park is right? We’re happy to help you choose based on your pet, your goals, and the season.

Questions? We’ve got you covered.

That’s completely okay. We regularly work with nervous, reactive, and cautious dogs. Sessions are slow, patient, and never forced. We give pets time to get comfortable with us, the space, and the process before focusing on photos.

Yes. Puppies, seniors, and dogs with big feelings are all welcome. We adjust pacing, distance, and expectations to match the animal, not the other way around.

Any pet pal is welcome, from feathered to scaled, from fleshy to furred. We’ll photograph birds, reptiles, fish, mammals, invertebrates, pretty much anything you’ve got… as long as it fits inside the studio.

We clean floors and props between sessions to reduce unfamiliar scents, keep the environment calm and predictable, and use dog- and cat-safe pheromone diffusers to promote relaxation. We also allow extra time for pets to explore and settle in before shooting.

Breaks are encouraged. Water, sniffing, decompression, and downtime are all part of a successful session.

We have a growing collection of toys, themes, and props, all ready to make your shoot as fun as possible. Feel free to ask if we have something in particular! In addition, we shoot on green screen upon request, allowing for the addition of infinite digitally inserted backgrounds.

Absolutely. In most cases, having you nearby helps pets feel safer and more confident. We’ll guide you on where to stand or sit to help get the best results.

Perfect posing is unnecessary, if not, at times, impossible. We focus on personality, expression, and natural behavior. Some pets love to pose, some don’t. Both are perfectly fine. We work with what your pet gives us.

That’s okay. We’ve worked with every personality type imaginable. If your pet needs more time, we adjust. If the energy shifts, we pivot. Our sessions are built around patience and flexibility — not rigid expectations.

You’ll receive a curated gallery of finished images that highlight your pet’s personality, expressions, and quirks — not just how they look, but who they are.

You don’t need to worry about perfect behavior, perfect poses, or your pet doing exactly what you imagine. Wiggles, sniffs, breaks, the occasional mess, and personality quirks are all part of the process. We’ll guide the session, handle the pacing, and adjust as needed. Your job is just to be there and have a great time with your pet.

No. Safety comes first. Leashes can remain on during the session and are often edited out later if desired. We never require pets to be off-leash unless you are fully comfortable and it is safe to do so.

Feel free to bring anything that helps your pet feel comfortable or shows off their personality. Favorite toys, treats, leashes, and comfort items are all welcome. Outfit changes or accessories are also encouraged if your pet enjoys them — there’s no pressure, and we’re happy to go at their pace.

Very much. We love dogs, cats, and animals of all kinds, and we treat them with the care and respect they deserve. Their experience matters just as much to us as the final images.

Yes. Multiple pets are welcome. We’ll photograph them together and individually when possible, keeping their comfort and energy levels in mind.
